I read the Bible differently than a lot of people I know. I am always trying to understand how it relates to me. I don't really get into the study of ancient culture, or what that thing looked like, or how long is a stadia. All I want to know is, how can I relate it to my life. This is especially hard when reading through the old testament, mainly the first five books. Have you ever read the part in the Bible where God tells Moses how to build the tabernacle? As I read this I begin to get bored with all the little details. I have often asked myself, why would God waste the paper to put all those minute details in there. I mean it is not as if I am going to build a tabernacle in my back yard, even if I was, how in the world do I make curtains out of goat hair. I read in Hebrews that the reason because God wanted it to be exactly as it is in Heaven. That makes sense, but what does that have to do with me? I woke up the other morning, and this thought hit me. It had to be done exactly as it is in heaven, that is true, that explains all the details. Obviously if Moses had a phenomenally detailed blue print, he could build an exact replica. Without the details, it would be a lot of guess work. Then God asked me, what is the blueprint in you life for following me. It hit me so hard. We think we can just float around in our christian culture, and hopefully we end up as an exact replica of heaven. There is a lot of guess work in our journey in being more like Christ. God's will is contradictory though. He wants us to have a plan, and action plan if you will. How am I going to get to where God wants me to be. I think the 3 main things are Prayer, the Word, and fasting. I think we have to have a plan, a schedule to meet one on one with God. In Exodus the type of prayer Moses had was face to face with God, we must have that. I also think We have to have a plan to read thru the Bible regularly. I think of the term, "eat the scroll." The Bible will reveal to us who God truly is. And finally, we have to beat our flesh. I think here is a two pronged attack. We deny our flesh by fasting, and we strengthen our spirit through communication with the Holy Spirit. If we have a plan with all these things in our lives, daily. We will become an exact replica of Heaven, which, in reality, is the will of God!
